When are you entitled to compensation?

You are entitled to receive certain services from your airline if your departure is delayed for more than two hours. Depending on the flight distance covered, you’re entitled to compensation of up to €600 provided that the airline itself is responsible for the delay. The same applies to cancelled flights.

How much compensation will you receive if your flight is delayed?

Passengers are entitled to compensation if the airline is responsible for the major delay. The compensation comes to between €250 and €600 if a flight is delayed by three hours or more. The amount is either €250, €400 or €600 depending on the distance of the flight.

  • Passengers are entitled to €250 for flights covering a distance of less than 1,500 km.
  • Passengers set to travel between 1,500 and 3,500 kilometres will receive €400 from their airline.
  • This amount increases to €600 for flights covering a distance of more than 3,500 km.

The price you paid for the flight is irrelevant - low-cost airlines are also covered by the EU Air Passenger Rights Regulation and passengers on flights operated by these airlines are also entitled to compensation.
